Why High-Performing Corporate Teams Need Coaches - Just Like Elite Sports Teams
A high performing sports team playing without coaches? Unthinkable.
So why do corporate teams try?
Having played the high-stakes corporate game for decades, I have a hypothesis - it’s not lack of budget or desire.
It’s lack of awareness.
When the pressure is high, it’s all hands on deck, fixing the problem.
But who’s holding up the mirror—showing you how your leaders are showing up, what they’re doing, and what they’re not doing?
Probably no one.
And that’s where the learning stops.
Think about it — no AFL, NRL, or Cricket team would go from game to game without analysing what worked, what didn’t, and what needs to change.
Yet that’s how most corporate teams operate.
Modern organisations are complex, adaptive systems.
Each team - say, Accounts Receivable - operates within a department, which sits inside a function, which lives within the organisation.
So when one part of the system changes, the whole system feels it. That’s why team coaching works.
Highly experienced team coaches are trained to work in complexity - to create space for teams to grow, reflect, and build the systems that help them keep performing long after the coach steps away.
If you truly want high performance—and your leadership team believes in it—you need one.
That’s Fiona Redshaw, PCC and me in the picture. We trained under world renowned leaders in Team Coaching and now collaborate with Senior Exec and C-Suite teams.
We don’t do vanilla. Every team is different and deserves a bespoke approach that helps clarity, care, and commercial performance coexist.
In 2025, we’ve had the privilege of working with some of Australia’s leading financial services teams—helping them align, focus, and perform at their best.
In 2026, we have a limited number of team coaching partnerships available.
If your team hasn’t paused to learn together in a while, what might that be costing you?
Let’s start with a coffee chat. 😊
