Why Serving on a Board with Purpose Can Elevate Your Leadership Journey

Coaching Australia Advisory Board

Many senior leaders I have the privilege to work with often ask about Board opportunities, what it involves, and what it might mean for their growth and development whether they be in a voluntary capacity while they are still working full time or considering it as a shift to a portfolio career.

My answer consistently continues to be to do it because they are drawn to the cause and there is a deep sense of a higher purpose that goes behind a simple contractual exchange.

Work that has meaning, can contribute to the welfare of others in some shape and form, and where we are doing something because you are “giving” without “expecting” has a far greater capacity to lift everyone… Just as the “tide lifts all boats” ❤️

As an Advisory Board Member of Coaching Australia and Coach Global Pty Ltd while I was still working in my full time role at Ford, it’s been truly an incredible journey experiencing the growth and positive impact of the organisation led by the incredible Lisa Wandl (PCC) and contributing to a higher purpose along with Advisory Board Members Vashti Whitfield, Justin Clarke (ICF PCC), Janette Illingsworth (ICF PCC, MAHRI), Sue Lewis, Claire de Carteret and Ash Kuchel. You are an amazing bunch!

If its your first ever Board role, go for something that “lifts all boats” 🌈
